I get the keys to my new apartment tomorrow and I can't decide how to decorate the place. My idea of heaven would be to have an apartment that mimicked a beach loft OR a ski resort cabin type feel... but I'm not rich and can't afford to go shopping for all new stuff yet. Voting Question: Does My Short Story Sound Good?

I realize it's a bit short, shorter than any normal short story, and it's a tad under described, but it's 3 a.m. and I have a massive headache (plus this is due tomorrow). So please tell me what you think! "On a small desolate beach, as the morning clouds begin to form, stands a young girl named Catherine. There is no reason why she is standing there, she just is. Her gaze veers and attaches to the moon. An odd peculiar place and time for such a thing, and a sight it was too. A large mass of vivid and blinding light, which could be compared to an orb, lays atop the ocean peak as if it were here, solid and materialized in form. Though it is early morning, when the birds start to cheep and chatter, the moon suggests otherwise. Catherine could predict it would be here at noon, it just had little sign of departure. Slowly, she withdrew her eyes and began walking through the moist sand. Occasionally, the ocean would come up to lightly embrace the sand and would soak Catherine’s socks, much to her disdain. But this was the least of her worries, she was looking for something, something lost. Carefully searching through the land she spotted something down by the rocks. Catherine ran towards the thing that had captured her attention and came to a complete halt once she had arrived. Emerged from within the sand, limp, were a pair of arms. The hands appeared to be holding a box, an aged and worn box. Catherine kneeled down on one knee to observe the caddy, when suddenly the arms lifted the box up to Catherine. Gingerly, she took hold of the item and the arms fell back down to the ground with a thud. Catherine walked away and raised the lid. Inside, the box was filled with sand. She tilted it a little and let the grains pour out. Now fully in sight, lay five tiny objects. One was a small transparent marble, a golden locket, a copper coin, a shell and a piece of aged paper. Catherine pocketed all five and left the box. Instantly the smell of oil hung in the air. Catherine stared back towards the moon and heard a faint “chink-chink-chink” of what sounded like tracks in the water. The din of roaring thunder erupted throughout as well as a light ticking. The clouds in the sky started to shape and reform, moving to surround the orb of the light that was the moon. Suddenly, a brighter and much clearer light shown from within the middle of the moon. A slight piercing sound of a steam whistle arose and layered with every other noise, making it almost deafening. A stain of scarlet red appeared inside the light and was gaining color as the sounds grew more immense. The echo of voices could now be heard. Catherine stood there dumbfounded at this sudden intrusion of peace. The image of red transformed into a bulky engine and was steadily making it’s way towards Catherine. As the engine was riding through, the tracks shook and vibrated the atmosphere. The air grew colder and she could feel the sting of wind upon her cheeks. Another sharp whistle blew, except louder this time, and caused Catherine to jump. Goosebumps slowly etched their way up her arm, as did the hairs. The engine was more apparent now, the front only a few meters away. The headlight was blinding, erasing all other sight. A vast surge of wind came billowing into Catherine as the train approached. Only inches away, Catherine shut her eyes. As fast as it had come, the train did not collide with her but flew right past. Catherine now stood in the middle of a crowd outside, as a train screeched to a stop. People moved and bustled past, trying to gain entry. Residing by her feet was a worn suitcase. Confused, she picked it up and made her way towards the train. Once inside and in a cabin, Catherine sat down and peered out the window. The whistle blew as the engine began to start. Catherine’s thoughts ran back to her daydream of the beach as she gazed at the passing trees. Almost absentmindedly, she placed her hand inside her pocket and felt something. Whatever it was, felt cold and solid, even had some odd grainy texture. With a slight smile, she pulled five items out and laid them in her palm. The marble, the coin, the locket, a shell and a piece of aged paper. Her hand enclosed the diminutive trinkets as she went back to staring out the window." more

Resolved Question: I am considering moving to either Oregon, Washington State, Or.. Wyoming. Which would be my best choice?

I am middle aged. I want to be able to do things of interests. I love the mountains. Live In Wisconsin now.. where the winters are brutal. The snow never melts and the temps are below zero. And there are no mountains. I love to walk and hike. Like a medium town. Live in a city that resembles a quaint town now. I am going to school to become a teacher for early childhood and want to be able to get a job teaching. My teacher suggested the south. But. I am not a southern gal. I like the West best. I want friendly people for once. Where I live they are anything but. Please help. I am not sure which is the most beautiful of them all. I did hear many say Washington State is prettier then Oregon, but Oregon has out door markets. Which is more health conscious? My brother use to live in Seattle and the city is not me.. But.. I do want access to civilization .. like stores and malls. My brother said that Wegmans is in Washington. He said Washington has more beauty then Oregon although both are nice he said. I saw pictures of Wyoming on tv the other night and fell in love. However.. it looks like not much to do there and it may be boring and I may feel stuck. I seen that Oregon has some light houses and beaches and I am originally from the East Coast. I dont want to pay high rent or home prices in the future. My dream is to have a log cabin and see Mountains. But.. I dont want to have to drive far to get places either.. in no mans land. Please help. Thank You All. Also, Is there more to do in Washington Or.. Oregon? Yes, You are all right.. Wyoming may look nice but .. its way too cold and snowy and coming from Stoughton Wisconsin.. It would remind me of the temps here. How hard or easy is it to get a teaching job in Oregon or Washington. I am confused about something. Both Oregon And Washington people said there is no sales tax in either state> ? I thought it was only one .. not both>? How is the rent in both and housing prices? Thank You .. Voting Question: would this bother you in a relationship?

Everyone aroud me i know goes everywhere with their significant other. If they go to the beach, mall, party, whereever they go together all the time. Seeing this around me i question the relationship im in. My boyfriend often goes to his cabin with his guy friends for the weekend and doesn't invite me. It really doesnt bother me, it would if girls went but its always just guys. He also goes many places with people but doesn't bring me. Chapter 1 - First Day Stop it Stop it I keep thinking to my self What did I did to her. It was my fault my stupid fault why did I had to be so selfish. I first woke up with this nightmare that chilled me to the bone I was in a dark no lights tunnel and at the very edge was this light I went in and found my self in this amazing place was full with everything the grass bright as green, sparkling water, cabins which were made of wood, and my favorite a beach. I was next to my neas the one I never would let go and whispered to my ear "Dont be sad" Emely whispered I kept silence and Emely my neas started walking forward "Coming" she whispered "Where" I replied "Are you coming" She sounded a little annoyed I started walking when two wolfs came from nowhere the clouds turned black red and lighting started coming from above the moutains my perfect dream to my worse nightmare I had have. There were two wolves straight ahead and Emely nowhere to be seen. The wolves charged me and I moved a side and lucky me only had a bleeding arm. "Emely were are you" I screamed with a hard hurt scream "RUNAWAY" she kept silence I still wondering were she was "HURRY ........" OKAY SO I WENT CAMPING WITH MY BESTFRIEND AND WE MEET GUYS and this one guy was sooo funny and then latter everyone told me he liked me but he was too shy cause i was so pretty he didnt think he had a chance with me. But then latter his cuz and his friends were trying to get us together but i didnt like that causse he was 1 year younger and about 5-7 inches shorter then me.
